Keeping with on of our most fundamental requisite for creating an environment where design entrepreneurs have a foundation in 'real time real world' projects, it was a unique brief that the Fashion Design Students had when creating fashion looks for the launch of the much awaited IMAX theatre by Scope Cinemas, at Havelock City mall.

Discussing, brainstorming and ideating, were the building blocks of the research and development that led to unique 'larger than life' fashion looks, inspired by iconic IMAX movies, that would be showcased at the opening night event. Underlining our sustainable design approach 'repurposing resources' meant that Students were encouraged to use existing components in their fashion creations.

From 'Furiosa', and 'Avatar' to 'Planet of the Apes' and 'Toy Story' the designers created dimensional looks that broke creative boundaries in their interpretation of these highly recognisable characters. With top models showcasing the looks, the launch event was a huge success, as it highlighted that fashion goes beyond the predictable spheres and arenas, and also showed that CFD fashion design students were well versed in following detailed and specific briefs while letting their creativity and imagination roam free.
